Rhubarb has a long history of herbal use. The primary action of rhubarb root as herbal medicine is a positive and balancing effect on the digestive system. One of the most widely used herbs in Chinese medicine, the root is used as an antiseptic, antispasmodic, antitumor, astringent, diuretic, laxative and tonic.

This herb should be used in conjunction with a nutritive diet and not take the place of a nutritive diet. Not recommended during pregnancy.
